A plain language version for students and families: Privacy for young people and families.
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Career Calling Schools (schools.careercalling.com.au), part of CAQA Groups and operated by Career Calling International Pty Ltd (ABN 53 162 651 238), handles personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Many of the people who use this site are students under 18. We have designed the site to collect as little personal information as possible. A plain language notice for young people and their parents and carers is also available.
2. What we collect
Students: no account and no name are needed to use the pathway planner. If a student saves their results, we store the answers they chose (interests, subjects they enjoy, learning style) and the matching fields under a random private token. If a student asks us to email the link, we use their first name and email address to send that one email; they are never saved in our database or with the saved results. Our server does not record the internet address of people who use these features.
Careers advisers and teachers: if you save a class plan, we store the activities you chose, an optional plan title and an optional note under a random private token. If you ask us to email the link, we use your email address to send it and do not save it.
School visit and webinar requests: your name, email address, optional phone number, school, role, state or territory, the kind of request and your message.
Newsletter: your optional name and your email address, for adults who choose to subscribe.
3. How we use it
We use personal information only for the purpose it was given: to send a link someone asked for, to reply to and arrange a school visit or webinar, or to send the newsletter to people who asked for it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Tracking and cookies
This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts and does not set cookies. It stores planner answers and plan selections in the visitor's own browser (local storage) so they are not lost; that information stays on the device unless the visitor chooses to save or send it.
5. Who can see a saved plan
A saved plan or saved results can be opened by anyone who has its private link. The link is long and random and is not listed or indexed anywhere. Share it only with people you trust.
6. Artificial intelligence
The pathway planner works with fixed rules and does not send answers to artificial intelligence services. We never send email addresses or phone numbers to such services.
7. Storage and security
Saved plans, requests and subscriptions are stored in our own database on a server in our hosting environment, reached over an encrypted connection. Access is limited to authorised staff.
8. How long we keep it
Saved plans and results that have not been opened for 12 months are deleted automatically. Requests are kept while we deal with them and for our records, in line with our Data Retention Policy. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time.
9. Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to delete a saved plan, by calling or emailing us. A parent or carer can contact us on behalf of a child.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handled personal information, contact us first and we will respond. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
