Learning intentions
- Prepare answers to common interview questions
- Use examples to back up answers
- Give and receive useful feedback
You will need
- Question cards (on the worksheet)
- Feedback slips
- A timer
Lesson steps
- 10 min
Prepare
Students choose three questions from the cards (for example: tell me about yourself; why do you want this job; tell me about a time you worked in a team) and jot down examples.
- 25 min
Circles
In groups of three, students rotate roles every five minutes: interviewer, interviewee and observer. Observers note one strength and one tip.
- 10 min
Debrief
As a class, collect what made answers strong: examples, eye contact, a clear finish, honest answers.
- 5 min
Plan
Students write one thing to practise before a real interview.
Adapting it
Let anxious students start as observers. Allow notes on cards during the first round.
Going further
Students prepare two questions to ask the interviewer at the end of an interview.
